Heidi Klum born Bergisch Gladbach Germany 1st June 1973. Erna Klum was her hairdresser mother. The father of Heidi Gunther Klum was a company's executive in the field of cosmetics. Her father had previously been an executive in charge of production for the perfume firm 4711. In Bergisch Gladbach she was born and was raised. Bergisch Gladbach is only 6 miles away from Cologne. German-American fashion model who is now television host, businesswoman and fashion designer. Karin was a friend of the 18-year old student at that time, encouraged her to join an German talent show named Model 92. The German women's magazine Petra sponsored this talent show, which was part of Thomas Gottschalk's talk show. Klum had to compete against 25000 contestants from Germany as well as Europe in order to be one of the three semifinalists. In April of 1992, she took home the top prize of $350,000.
